About us

History

TLC Costa Brava is owned & operated by Shawn & Kerry McGivney, brother & sister.
Both have extensive professional medical experience as a Medical Doctor (MD) and a Registered Nurse (RN). As young children they saw firsthand what it was like watching their parents care for their grandparents. Later in life as adult children they became caregivers for their own parents which gave them an appreciation for the work direct caregivers do that many medical professionals are not fortunate enough to have. These
experiences grew into a life long journey which led them to be passionate about caring for seniors with special Memory Care needs & motivated them to pursue their respective medical & nursing careers.

Continuity of Care Is what’s missing in the Health Care System today

Over the years they have both witnessed a drastic change in the health care system. Indeed most care today is “quick care” or “urgent care”. This new trend offers little or no continuity of care, for example, you see a different doctor, nurse or caregiver each time. Communication between patient, families & health care providers has seemingly disappeared.

Health care has become disjointed & segmented. We have experienced the frustrations of health care system not only professionally, interacting with patients, families & providers, but also personally, caring for our own parents during their illnesses. Even with all of our medical experience, it was difficult to communicate, gather information & coordinate care for our parents.

We understand how difficult it is to be a caregiver. Our experiences, as medical professionals & direct caregivers has fueled our passion for senior care & inspired us to open this happy, complete, home like care setting.
